On Sundays, from 8 August to 26 September, Curiosi di Natura propose “Pleasures of the Carso – Summer 2021”: seven walks to experience the nature, the culture and the gastronomy of well-known and less well-known localities of the Carso.
As you take in the spectacular seascapes, woods and cultivated areas, the local environment and ecology are illustrated by our Curiosi di Natura guides, together with live readings (in Italian) of poetry, literature, history and culture.
The excursions are all slow-paced, along shaded paths, and are suitable for persons of all ages and fitness levels, in normal physical condition.
Also, every day until September 30, participants will be able to taste typical dishes at local restaurants at a discounted price. On signing up for the excursion, in fact, each participant will receive a 10% discount coupon valid for two persons at the “Sapori del Carso” restaurants.

SUNDAY 8 AUGUST and 26 SEPTEMBER "Aurisina quarries and the coast” Walk around the area of the quarries up to the Tiziana Weiss lookout tower with views of the sea. From there, we’ll make our way back to the village along a scenic path surrounded by Mediterranean vegetation and pine trees. With themed readings.
Meeting venue: Duino Aurisina Town Hall. Bus n. 44 from Trieste.

SUNDAY 15 AUGUST, 19 SEPTEMBER and 3 OCTOBER "Sage Trail and Mount Babica" Excursion along the
Carso ridge following a scenic path close to the Sage Trail, across woods, screes and fragrant shrubbery.
With magnificent views of the Gulf of Trieste, spanning from Istria to Grado.
Meeting venue: junction
connecting the Provincial road n. 1 and the Coast road (Civil Protection entrance, close to the Santa
Croce sports grounds). Bus n. 44 from Trieste.

SUNDAY 22 and 29 AUGUST (20.45-23.00)
“Basovizza under the stars” (SOLD OUT) A suggestive experience in the
fields, taking in the scents of the night: the astrophysicist Dr
Giorgio Calderone will illustrate the celestial dome and its visible constellations and lead us on an
imaginary journey from the closest objects of the solar system to the remotest galaxy observable with the
naked eye.
Meeting venue: 8.30 pm, at the parking area close to the Basovizza Astronomic
Observatory.

SUNDAY 5 SEPTEMBER “Carso and vineyards at Prepotto” Itinerary across karstic landscapes with
spectacular caves and dolinas, vineyards producing the famous wines of the Carso, and finally to Lupinc
Park, where the view spans across the Carso and the sea. With themed readings and suggestions.
Meeting venue: Provincial road n. 6 from Gabrovizza (Provincial road to Comeno / Komen), at the
junction for Ternova.

SUNDAY 12 SEPTEMBER (whole day: 9.30-17.30) “From Basovizza to Mount Cocusso” A slow-paced excursion, with a rise of 300 m, across meadows and shady woods featuring spectacular karstic
phenomena, up to the highest point of the Trieste Carso (672 m). With views spanning from the sea to
Slovenia. Lunch at leisure (packed or at Mount Cocusso lodge). Return to Basovizza via a different route.
